Noah Syndergaard Facing Live Hitters
4 years agoNew York Mets starting pitcher Noah Syndergaard (elbow) faced live hitters in an intrasquad game at Port St. Lucie on Saturday. Syndergaard's fastball was clocked at 97 mph, and he was able to throw all of his pitches in the one-inning outing. The final hurdle for the 28-year-old righty is building up to a starter's workload, which is expected to take about six weeks, though the Mets believe that a mid-June return date is more realistic. Syndergaard owns a 3.31 ERA and has struck out 9.7 batters per nine innings in his career. He's worth holding onto as an injured list stash for fantasy managers who have an extra spot.
