Nico Hoerner Reaches Three Times In Blowout Win
1 year agoChicago Cubs second baseman Nico Hoerner went 3-for-4 with two RBI, a stolen base, and a run scored in a lopsided 10-1 win over the Cleveland Guardians on Friday afternoon. The Cubs were all over Guardians starter Cal Quantrill in this one, pummeling him for six earned runs. Hoerner put Chicago on the board in the bottom of the third inning with a two-run single to score Jared Young and Nick Madrigal. He would pick up two more singles in the contest and come around to score via a Christopher Morel homer in the bottom of the sixth. The 26-year-old has been hot over his last 65 at-bats (15 games), posting a .865 OPS with 13 RBI and four stolen bases. Hoerner is slashing a rock-solid .290/.338/.406 with five home runs, 42 RBI, and 18 stolen bases over 303 at-bats on the year. He's finally putting it all together this season and in on pace to smash all of his previous career highs.
