7 years agoWashington Capitals forward Nicklas Backstrom finished the season with 21 goals and 71 points, including 25 points in his last 18 games. The slow start to Backstrom's season was likely due to his being separated from elite winger Alex Ovechkin, who slotted next to Evgeny Kuznetsov for most of the season. Backstrom has begun to find chemistry with linemates T.J. Oshie and Andre Burakovsky, and despite his usual low shooting totals, he is a strong and affordable option for Thursday's matchup.--Barry Miles
