Nick Yorke Picks Up A Hit In Triple-A Debut
6 months agoThe Boston Red Sox promoted second base prospect Nick Yorke to Triple-A Worcester on Wednesday and he wasted no time showing off some of his tools, going 1-for-4 at the plate with a walk and a stolen base. The 22-year-old was hitting .251 at Double-A with four home runs, eight stolen bases, and an 18:36 BB:K over 175 AB. The former first-round draft pick had been on a bit of a roll before the promotion, producing five multi-hit games in his last 10 games. Vaughn Grissom was supposed to be the Sox everyday second baseman, but has hit the IL for a second time already this season with a hamstring injury, leaving Emmanuel Valdez and Jamie Westbrook to man the keystone. Valdez is hitting .188 for the season and the 28-year-old Westbrook has six MLB plate appearances to his name, all coming within the last week. Per MLB.com's Top Prospects List, Yorke has an ETA of 2024 to reach the majors, and it looks like there isn't much stopping him from making that a reality.
