Nick Pivetta Struggles Against Mets
Nick Pivetta had a rough outing against the Mets on Sunday. Pivetta allowed eight hits, one walk, and six earned runs in three and two-thirds innings but managed to strike out five. Fantasy owners are torn due to his inconsistency as his peripherals suggest that he is pitching better than he actually is. Unfortunately, the line at the end of some games suggests otherwise. Pivetta is a must-start due to his upside. Just understand the risk heading into any game (even the Mets).

Nick Pivetta Throws Seven Scoreless Innings
Nick Pivetta pitched seven shutout innings in a 2-0 win over the Tigers on Tuesday. He allowed two hits and two walks while striking out six. This was his third straight quality start and his fourth of the season. Outside of a rough start on April 5 against the Cubs when he gave up three runs in three innings, he's pitched like an ace. In his four other starts, he's allowed just one run in 27 innings with 26 strikeouts compared to only four walks. He'll look to continue his breakout year in his next start, which is currently lined up to be against the Giants.

Nick Pivetta Continues To Impress In Third Win
Nick Pivetta was solid on Wednesday, hurling six one-run innings in a 4-2 win over the Chicago Cubs. Pivetta allowed just four hits and a walk while striking out six in this one. After a rough start against the Cubs on April 5, Pivetta has bounced back with back-to-back good starts, including this one against that same Cubs lineup. The 32-year-old's numbers look excellent too, with a 1.57 ERA and 0.83 WHIP backed by his 24 strikeouts in 23 innings. Pivetta is looking like a steal in fantasy, as he was going fairly late and is pitching like a stud so far.

Nick Pivetta Posts 10 Strikeouts In Padres Win
Nick Pivetta picked up 10 punchouts in a masterful performance on Friday night against the Rockies. He went seven shutout innings, allowing just three hits, all to Kyle Farmer. He got six runs of support in the fifth inning and retired the side in order in the seventh inning before handing a 7-0 lead to the bullpen to finish out. The Rockies lead the MLB with a 29.4% strikeout rate and continue to be a great matchup to target for DFS or streaming starting pitchers. Pivetta improved to 2-1 in his three starts this season, with 10 hits against and 18 strikeouts in 17 innings. He's scheduled for another home start in his next outing, but it will be in a tougher matchup against the visiting Cubs next Wednesday afternoon.

Nick Pivetta Tallies Four Strikeouts In Spring Debut
Nick Pivetta tossed 2 2/3 shutout frames in his spring training debut on Tuesday. Pivetta signed a four-year, $55 million contract with the Padres in February and was slightly behind schedule to start camp. However, the 32-year-old looked sharp in his first taste of game action as he tallied four punchouts and allowed just one base runner (via a free pass). Last season, Pivetta logged 145 2/3 innings with a 4.14 ERA with a 1.13 WHIP with the Boston Red Sox. He tallied an impressive 172 strikeouts and held a strong 6.1 percent walk rate. He also generated a 3.51 xERA with a .221 xBA, suggesting he should see significant positive regression during the 2025 campaign. Fantasy managers should view Pivetta as an intriguing option in the later rounds when looking to boost their strikeout totals.
