Nick Pivetta Strikes Out 11 In Victory
7 years agoPlaying the lowly Baltimore Orioles in a Wednesday afternoon matinee, the Philadelphia Phillies benefitted greatly from starting pitcher Nick Pivetta, who arguably turned in his finest performance of the season. The 25-year-old went seven strong, conceding just one run on two hits, with one walk and 11 strikeouts, tying his personal record. With his lone run allowed coming in the first frame, Pivetta trailed for most of the afternoon as his offense took some time to get rolling. In the sixth, however, they finally came around and scored six unanswered to prevail.
