Nick Pivetta Starting Game 1 Of Doubleheader
1 year agoBoston Red Sox right-hander Nick Pivetta is getting the nod on the bump for Game 1 of a doubleheader on Tuesday against the visiting New York Yankees. Monday's scheduled starter for the Red Sox, Kutter Crawford, will be pushed back to the second game of Tuesday's twin bill. Now that lefty James Paxton (knee) has been shut down for the rest of the year, Pivetta will finish the season in Boston's rotation. The 30-year-old will be making his 13th start of 2023 on Tuesday. He's gone 9-8 with a 4.54 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, one save and 150 K's in 117 innings over 34 outings. Pivetta hasn't been as good in his 12 starts, posting a 5.87 ERA while allowing 64 hits (15 home runs), walking 26 and striking out 72 in 61 1/3 frames.
