Nick Pivetta Earns Win In Home Opener
7 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies starting pitcher Nick Pivetta gave the team a terrific outing for their home opener, as the club defeated the Miami Marlins 5-0. After going just four innings and surrendering three runs his last time out, the 25-year-old went 5 2/3 innings, allowing four hits but no walks and no runs. Additionally, he struck out nine, tossing 97 pitches in his performance. Pivetta received three runs of offensive help while pitching with two more coming after his departure. The Phillies bullpen preserved the lead en route to victory. Pivetta's ERA now stands at 2.79, with his next outing tentatively scheduled for Wednesday night against the Reds.
