4 years agoMiami Marlins pitcher Nick Neidert could be the team's starter for the opening game of their series against the Mets on Thursday. Neidert was called up in a corresponding move with Elieser Hernandez's placement on the injured list- and manager Dave Mattingly mentioned him as a possible candidate to toe the rubber at Citi Field on Thursday. Mattingly also said Paul Campbell is a candidate to start. Neidert is an interesting option, as he posted a 20.1 percent K:BB rate with a 3.24 ERA across 152.2 innings at the Double-A level in 2018.--Tim Capurso
