4 years agoMiami Marlins rookie starting pitcher Nick Neidert struggled in Tuesday's start against the Baltimore Orioles. He lasted just three innings, allowing five runs on five hits and two walks while striking out two. Neidert had struggled a lot with throwing strikes in his previous outings, walking almost a batter per inning. Walks were less of an issue in this one, but he was still clearly missing his spots and getting way too much of the plate. With a low-90s fastball, Neidert is a guy who needs to hit the corners of the plate if he's going to have success. He'll get another few starts, but if he keeps struggling, the Marlins have enough minor league pitching depth to not have to keep sending Neidert out there if he keeps giving up runs.--David A Marcillo - RotoBaller
