4 years agoMiami Marlins right-handed pitcher Nick Neidert was called up to the big league team on Monday. With starting pitcher Elieser Hernandez (bicep) placed on the 10-day injured list, the Marlins will need someone to take his place in the starting rotation. Neidert pitched well this spring and could be the one to slide into the open rotation spot after Sandy Alcantara and Pablo Lopez. Neidert has also pitched in relief though, so it's unclear for now if he will indeed be the one making the start the next time Hernandez's spot comes around. Neidert doesn't have huge strikeout upside, but he throws strikes and generally misses barrels. He could be a decent option in deeper leagues, but he's certainly not a guy you need to run to the waiver wire for just yet.--David A Marcillo - RotoBaller
