5 years agoSan Francisco 49ers backup quarterback Nick Mullens signed his one-year, $750,000 tender as an exclusive-rights free agent on Friday, according to a league source. Mullens had no other choice but to return for the 2020 season. He'll be a restricted free agent after next season. With Jimmy Garoppolo staying healthy in 2019, Mullens didn't attempt any passes last year. Mullens had his opportunity in 2018 when Jimmy G got hurt, though, and averaged 285 passing yards per game in eight starts. He also switched representation this offseason, as Creative Artists Agency announced that he's now among their clients. Mullens won't be fantasy relevant unless Garoppolo is injured again in 2020.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
