4 years agoSan Francisco 49ers backup quarterback Nick Mullens could make his first start of the year in Week 3 against the New York Giants if starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (ankle) is unable to go. Garoppolo suffered a high ankle sprain in Week 2 against the New York Jets and Mullens came in for the second half and completed eight of 11 passing attempts for 71 yards and an interception. The 49ers are extremely banged up right now and are unlikely to put up too many points regardless of who is under center in Week 3. Mullens can be left on waivers in all leagues even if he gets the start in Week 3.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller
