2 years agoSan Diego Padres starting pitcher Nick Martinez didn't need to shake off any rust during his Cactus League debut on Friday. The right-hander tossed two scoreless innings in what ended up being a loss to the Seattle Mariners. Martinez allowed three hits, but struck out four batters during his brief time on the mound. The 32-year-old was a swingman last season, but is expected to be a full-time starter to begin the 2023 season. He's certainly off to a strong start, but we'll see if his arm can hold up for the full length of a season in the rotation.--Andy Webb - RotoBaller
