Nick Madrigal, Codi Heuer Traded To Cubs
3 years agoUpdating an earlier report, the Chicago Cubs have acquired second baseman Nick Madrigal and relief pitcher Codi Heuer from the White Sox for relief pitcher Craig Kimbrel, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today. Madrigal is out for the rest of the year with a torn hamstring, and over 54 games this year, he slashed .305/.349/.425 with two homers, one steal, 21 RBI and 30 runs scored. Heuer has made 40 appearances this season, going 4-1 with a 5.12 ERA, 1.422 WHIP and 23.5 percent strikeout rate across 38 2/3 innings of work. Heuer is unlikely to have any value outside of SV/HLD formats through the rest of this season. Meanwhile Madrigal now looks set to be the starting second baseman for the Cubs in 2022.
