2 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos (oblique) will return to the team next week and forego a minor league rehab assignment, according to interim manager Rob Thompson. The 30-year-old outfielder, who has been out since early September, plans to do a full workout on Saturday and Sunday and hopes to rejoin the team for their series against the Chicago Cubs next weekend. If all goes according to plan, he would skip a minor league rehab assignment altogether. The team should provide an update on his status towards the end of this weekend. Castellanos is slashing .265/.305/.397 with 13 home runs, 61 RBI and seven stolen bases over 499 at-bats in what has been an underwhelming first season in Philadelphia.--Jon Mathisen - RotoBaller
