Nick Burdi Leaves Game With Arm Injury
6 years agoPittsburgh Pirates relief pitcher Nick Burdi left in the eighth inning of Monday's game against Arizona with an apparent arm injury. The 26-year-old threw a pitch and fell to the ground, clutching his right arm/elbow area. The Louisville product underwent Tommy John Surgery in 2017 as a member of the Twins organization. A Rule 5 draft pick in 2017 for the Phillies and then traded to Pittsburgh, Burdi has appeared in 10 games this season, recording 17 strikeouts prior to Monday's game. We'll have to wait and see what the team's initial diagnosis is, but it appears to be a significant injury to one of the team's top bullpen arms.
