Nick Anderson To Make Spring Debut Wednesday
2 years agoAtlanta Braves relief pitcher Nick Anderson (foot) is set to make his Grapefruit League debut on Wednesday against the Tampa Bay Rays. Anderson didn't pitch at all in the big leagues in 2022 and finished the season on the 60-day injured list due to plantar fasciitis in his right foot. The 32-year-old right-handed reliever should make Atlanta's Opening Day bullpen if he proves he's back to full health this spring. Anderson tossed only six innings for the Rays in 2021, but he was dominant in 2020 with a 0.55 ERA, 0.49 WHIP and a career-high six saves in 16 1/3 innings. It remains to be seen if he can return to being one of the most dominant relievers in the game, but he's worth keeping an eye on if he makes the Opening Day roster.
