Nick Anderson Throws Bullpen Saturday
3 years agoTampa Bay Rays relief pitcher Nick Anderson (elbow) threw a bullpen session before the game on Saturday. Anderson hasn't pitched at all in 2021 while recovering from a partially torn UCL in his right elbow, but Tampa remains hopeful that they will have him at some point in the second half of the season. The 30-year-old right-hander only allowed one earned run in 16 1/3 innings (0.55 ERA) while striking out 26, earning six saves and walking three in the shortened 2020 season. The Rays have been rolling with a closer-by-committee featuring Diego Castillo, Pete Fairbanks and J.P. Feyereisen of late, but Anderson could enter that mix some time after August if he can prove his health. For now, just monitor his progress.
