Nick Anderson Outrighted By The Rays
2 years agoThe Tampa Bay Rays outrighted right-handed relief pitcher Nick Anderson on Wednesday, according to sources. Anderson is now on waivers and the other 29 teams can now add him to their major-league roster. If he clears waivers, he will remain in Tampa's minor-league system. Injuries have derailed Anderson's career since 2020. He pitched in just six innings for the Rays in 2021 and wasn't seen at all this year. The 32-year-old veteran relief arm will be intriguing to a team looking for bullpen help. In the shortened 2020 season, he had a 0.55 ERA (1.35 FIP), a 0.49 WHIP, six saves and 26 strikeouts in 16 1/3 innings pitched, so if he can get healthy again, he could return to a high-leverage role at the back of a bullpen.
