Nick Anderson Hits IL Due To Elbow Tightness
4 years agoTampa Bay Rays right-handed pitcher Nick Anderson has been placed on the 10-day injured list prior to Sunday’s contest against Toronto as he battles forearm and elbow tightness in his pitching arm. Despite Anderson reiterating that he’s “not really worried” about the ailment, elbow concerns for any pitcher is alarming. The Rays’ bullpen has been mangled by injuries to this point in the year with Anderson, Chaz Roe, Jose Alvarado, and Oliver Drake all currently sidelined. Anderson is yet to allow a run this season, having spun 9 ⅓ frames with 15 strikeouts. Diego Castillo may be the next man up for a save opportunity. Jalen Beeks and Aaron Slegers may also be in the mix - they are the only active, healthy members of the Tampa Bay bullpen that have recorded a save this year, but neither is likely to hold down full-time closer duties.
