NFLPA Not Interested In 18-Game Schedule
25 seconds agoNFL commissioner Roger Goodell recently said that safety data doesn't discourage the league from expanding the regular season to 18 games, but NFL Players Association executive director Lloyd Howell Jr. doesn't feel the same way. "Frankly, we're not sure how he's reaching that conclusion based on the data we've been given access to," Howell said. "No one wants to play an 18th game. No one." Howell said that NFL players are against another regular-season expansion after the league just added a 17th game in 2021. Any discussions about an 18-game schedule between both sides has purely been informal at this point. Howell said there is "more to be done" regarding the schedule and amount of travel teams are asked to do, citing that multiple teams played three games in 10 days in 2024. Number of bye weeks, roster size, practice-squad size and length of the offseason are all issues that need to be addressed.
