Nestor Cortes Expected To Begin Season As Fifth Starter
2 years agoNew York Yankees southpaw Nestor Cortes (hamstring) is expected to start off the season as the fifth man of the Yankees rotation. According to manager Aaron Boone, the Yankees will ramp up Cortes to begin the season as a precaution to heal his hamstring completely. Cortes withdrew from the WBC after an apparent hamstring injury forced him to back out. The Yankees will start the season with a rotation consisting of Gerrit Cole, Carlos Rodon, Luis Severino, Clarke Schmidt/ Domingo German, and Cortes. The 28-year-old will be bumped up to the fourth spot once Boone is comfortable employing him with no setbacks. Cortes is poised for another promising performance in 2023 and hopes to make his second All-Star appearance.
