Nestor Cortes To Make $3.2 Million In 2023
2 years agoThe New York Yankees and left-handed starting pitcher Nestor Cortes agreed to a one-year, $3.2 million deal to avoid salary arbitration on Friday. The 28-year-old Cuban southpaw made the All-Star team for the first time in 2022 in his fifth major-league season and second with the Yanks. He went 12-4 with a career-best 2.44 ERA (3.12 FIP), 0.92 WHIP, career-high 163 strikeouts and 38 walks in 158 1/3 frames over his 28 starts. Cortes suffered a left groin injury while pitching in the American League Championship Series, but he should be fine for the start of 2023. Fantasy managers should consider him a fringe top-30 fantasy starter.
