Nestor Cortes Takes First Loss Tuesday
3 years agoNew York Yankees pitcher Nestor Cortes was charged with his first loss of the season Tuesday against the Royals. While Cortes provided the Yankees with his longest start of the season -5 2/3 innings- the results were not pretty, as he allowed five runs, four earned, including two homers to Salvador Perez. The lefty had allowed two runs or less in each of his last two starts, so this was a disappointing step back in a promising matchup against Kansas City. With rotation reinforcements on the way in the form of Gerrit Cole, Jordan Montgomery, Domingo German (shoulder), and Luis Severino (shoulder, groin), Cortes may not be needed for any more spot starts.
