Nestor Cortes Allows One Run Over Eight Innings
3 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Nestor Cortes had yet another fantastic outing against the Chicago White Sox on Sunday. He pitched eight innings and allowed three hits, no walks and one earned run while striking out seven. The only damage came on a solo home run off the bat of Adam Engel in the eighth inning. Cortes earned the win on Sunday to improve to 2-1 on the year. He now has a 1.35 ERA and a 0.85 WHIP over seven starts with 49 strikeouts over 40 innings. He'll look to keep the good times rolling in his next trip to the mound, which will be against the White Sox again on Friday.
