4 years agoMinnesota Twins designated hitter Nelson Cruz (foot) is in the lineup for Friday's series opener against the Pirates. The veteran slugger toughed out his foot injury during Wednesday's game against the Athletics, belting two homers, though he was noticeably bothered by the ailment late in the game and had to be removed. Fortunately, Cruz seems to be managing the issue well and will resume his usual slot in the order as the number-three hitter against Pirates' right-hander JT Brubaker. Brubaker has kept the runs off the board for the most part, though he's allowed a 39.5 percent hard-hit rate so far in 2021.--Tim Capurso
