Nelson Cruz Crushes 21st Homer On Sunday
3 years agoTampa Bay Rays designated hitter Nelson Cruz went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk during Sunday's 3-2 loss to the Guardians. He took Triston McKenzie deep in the sixth inning for his 21st long ball of the season. Since being acquired by the Rays on July 22, the 41-year-old is hitting .167 (2-for-12) with two solo home runs and an additional run scored through three games. Cruz continues to produce in 2021, slashing .289/.367/.542 with 21 home runs, 52 RBI, 47 runs scored, and three stolen bases over 88 games. The Boomstick will serve as Tampa Bay's primary designated hitter and could see a small fantasy boost the rest of the way in a loaded Rays' lineup.
