Neil Walker Starting At Second Thursday
7 years agoWhile New York Yankees infielders Tyler Wade and Ronald Torreyes spent most of spring training fighting for the starting job at second base voided by Starlin Castro’s departure, it will be Neil Walker manning the position for Opening Day. The 32-year-old signed with the Yankees earlier this month, managing to get 18 at-bats with the club during spring. Walker can play first as well, but that position will go to Tyler Austin on Thursday. The former New York Met hit .265 last year with 14 home runs and 49 RBI. On Thursday, he will bat eighth as the Yankees begin their season in Toronto against the Blue Jays.
