Neil Walker Looking At Increase In Playing Time
6 years agoNew York Yankees infielder Neil Walker was originally scheduled to have the day off for Wednesday’s series finale against the Atlanta Braves but would wind up playing the final five innings of the game. He would be forced to come on as a result of Gleyber Torres’ persisting hip injury. With Torres headed for the disabled list, Walker is looking at a significant jump in playing time, as he appears to be the favorite to take over the starting job at second base while Torres remains out. While he struggled playing every day in April, he made significant improvements in May, hitting .294 with eight RBI.
