Neil Walker Hits First Home Run Of Season
7 years agoStarting at third base and batting eighth for the New York Yankees on Monday night in Texas, Neil Walker played a key role early on in his club’s third consecutive victory. In the second inning, he drove in the first run of the game with a double to left. In the fourth inning, he drilled his first home run as a Yankee, a solo shot to right that increased his club’s lead to three runs at the time. Of course later on, the pitching would cough up the lead before the offense roared again, but Walker’s early efforts ultimately mattered as well. While his average still looks disheartening at .219, he’s delivered key hits at various times this season and continues to see time all over the infield.
