Neal Pionk Inks Four-Year Contract With Jets
3 years agoThe Winnipeg Jets made sure their most offensively-talented blueliner stayed in Manitoba on Wednesday, signing defenseman Neal Pionk to a four-year, $23.5 million contract ($5.875 million average annual value). Following a trade from the New York Rangers (in exchange for defenseman Jacob Trouba) two summers ago, Pionk has blossomed into one of the Jets' most-valued rearguards and a fantasy darling alike. In 125 games over the past two seasons, the 26-year-old has tallied 77 points (nine goals, 68 assists) to go along with a plus-16 rating, 277 shots, 152 blocks and 302 hits. Given his excellent cross-category production, Pionk should be treated as a borderline top-10 fantasy defenseman in upcoming drafts.
