3 years agoWinnipeg Jets defenseman Neal Pionk found his way into the box score Monday night with an assist during the Jets 3-1 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins. Pionk had 10 points in his first 12 games but had gone five straight contests without a point. That changed when he connected with Dominic Toninato on a goal. This gave Winnipeg a 1-0 lead they would later relinquish. Pionk also had two shots, three blocked shots and two hits while playing just over 21 minutes on Monday. Pionk could again come close to his 2019-20 campaign when he tallied 45 points in 71 games.--Chris Wassel - RotoBaller

3 weeks agoWinnipeg Jets defenseman Neal Pionk (undisclosed) missed his second-straight practice on Thursday morning. As a result, the 29-year-old is in danger of missing Friday's contest against the Dallas Stars. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status during Friday's morning skate as he could be a game-time decision. Over his last six contests, Pionk has been held off the scoresheet and logged just nine shots on goal with six blocks. Before this offensive slump, Pionk tallied five points (two goals) over eight games while averaging 2.65 shots on goal per game. Through 66 total games this season, Pionk has scored nine goals and added 28 helpers. Fantasy managers should expect Colin Miller to enter the starting lineup and for Luke Schenn to have an uptick in ice time.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

5 months agoWinnipeg Jets defenseman Neal Pionk came away with three assists as the team beat the Rangers 6-3 on Tuesday, becoming the first side in NHL history to win 15 of its first 16 games in a season. Pionk has been an integral part of the success, totaling 17 points (three goals, 14 assists) in 16 games. This puts him tied with teammate Josh Morrissey for the second-most points among all blue-liners. The two have feasted at the back despite skating on different defensive pairings and power-play units. Pionk doesn't shy away from the dirty work either, having registered 28 blocks and 21 hits for the campaign.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

5 months agoWinnipeg Jets defenseman Neal Pionk had the first four-point outing of his career on Friday, finishing an 8-3 victory over San Jose with a goal and three assists. Pionk closed out a four-goal first period for the Jets with a power-play goal and had two points with the man advantage overall. He was plus-two for the game and registered two shots with one hit in 19:20 of ice time. The 29-year-old now boasts five points (one goal, four assists) in four games for the season, working on the second defensive pairing and the second power-play unit. He offers solid production across all categories and benefits from playing on a hot team that's 4-0-0 to start the season.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
