Nationals Not Willing To Pay High Price For J.T. Realmuto
6 years agoThe Washington Nationals will not trade for Miami Marlins catcher J.T. Realmuto, at least not with what the Marlins are asking for in return. Mike Rizzo, the president of the Nationals, told MLB Network Radio this morning, "We know what the return has to be on Realmuto and we are not willing to meet that price. So unless something changes on their end, we're going to go with [Matt] Wieters when he is healthy." Wieters has been out of the lineup since May when he had surgery to repair a torn tendon in his hamstring. He has been participating in baseball activities and is progressing, but there is no timetable on his return. At best, Wieters is an option in deep two-catcher or NL-only leagues.
