Nationals Ink Sean Doolittle To Minor League Deal
2 years agoThe Washington Nationals signed veteran left-handed reliever Sean Doolittle to a minor league deal on Sunday with an invitation to spring training next year. It gives Doolittle a chance to continue rehabbing while possibly returning next year to make an impact in the team's bullpen again. Doolittle had surgery on the UCL in his left elbow in July, a procedure that came with a recovery timetable of five to six months. Barring any setbacks for the 36-year-old southpaw this offseason, there's a chance that he'll be ready to go in spring training next year. It's unlikely that Doolittle will have a high-leverage role until later next season. He pitched in just 5 1/3 innings with Washington this year and didn't allow a run while striking out six.
