Nationals Discussing Wade Miley
6 years agoThe Washington Nationals have discussed free-agent starting pitcher Wade Miley as a replacement for Tanner Roark, according to sources. The Nats sent Roark to the Reds on Wednesday. Miley got a late start in 2018 due to an injury, but he was great in his 16 starts for Milwaukee, going 5-2 with a 2.57 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 5.6 K/9 in 80 2/3 innings. The 32-year-old left-hander isn't much of a strikeout artist and hasn't surpassed 180 innings since 2015 with the Red Sox. Expecting him to pitch that well again in 2019 would be a mistake. Miley was awful for the Orioles and Mariners the previous two seasons.
