Nathan Wiles Called Up From Triple-A
20 seconds agoThe Atlanta Braves announced on Tuesday that they selected the contract of right-hander Nathan Wiles to the major-league roster and released right-hander Amos Willingham in a corresponding move. The Braves also optioned right-hander Michael Peterson to Triple-A Gwinnett on Monday night. In what will be his MLB debut, Wiles could be used as the team's bulk reliever following an unnamed opener on Tuesday at Truist Park against the visiting St. Louis Cardinals. Atlanta is having to pivot after Tuesday's original scheduled starter, right-hander Spencer Strider (hamstring), landed on the injured list on Monday. The 26-year-old Wiles had a nice 0.64 ERA and 1.00 WHIP with 15 strikeouts and five walks in 14 innings over three starts to begin the year at Gwinnett, but fantasy managers should look elsewhere for a deep-sleeper streamer on Tuesday.
