7 years agoTampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi (elbow) received good news Thursday ahead of the team's season opener. He will have elbow surgery Friday but the issue is three loose pieces of cartilage which is a solvable issue. The news moved the narrative from merely a best-case scenario being Eovaldi stepping on a mound in June to the expectation being him back returning to a mound in June. Eovaldi had looked really good in spring training and if he returns with the same quality of pitching, he could help both the Rays and some very deep league owners in the second half.--Jamie Mellor
