Nathan Eovaldi Will Have Monday's Start Skipped
1 year agoTexas Rangers starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi will have Monday's scheduled start against the Houston Astros skipped, per manager Bruce Bochy. While the 33-year-old hurler hasn't performed poorly over his last few starts, his velocity has declined, which Bochy mentioned to reporters. Beat writer Evan Grant noted that Eovaldi averaged 93.1 MPH in his last start against the Rays, down 2.3 MPH from his average this season. Given Eovaldi's age and injury history, it would make sense that the Rangers try and get him some extra rest down the stretch. Jon Gray will get the nod on Monday against Houston in his place.
