Nathan Eovaldi Struggles Against The Detroit Tigers
4 years agoBoston Red Sox starter Nathan Eovaldi turned in a disappointing start on Thursday against the Detroit Tigers. Entering this start, Eovaldi had a 2.12 FIP and 3.68 ERA, so this clunker was absolutely not expected. He allowed six earned runs across 4 1/3 innings to the woeful Tigers offense, which entering Thursday's game was sporting a league-worst .604 OPS. Eovaldi did not let the Tigers slug the ball against him and he allowed just a lone double as the Tigers' only extra-base hit. Instead, the Tigers dinked and dunked Eovaldi for that double along with six singles and a walk, which chased him from the game before he could complete five full innings. Eovaldi was able to strike out five Tigers leaving fantasy managers who streamed him with acceptable K numbers. Moving forward, he's still a guy to keep an eye on, but know that starts like this will happen.
