Nathan Eovaldi Roughed Up In First Appearance Back
5 years agoBoston Red Sox pitcher Nathan Eovaldi was tagged for three runs on five hits in 2/3 of an inning in Monday's win over Tampa Bay. It was his first appearance in a major league game since April 17 after suffering an elbow injury. However, if you're looking for some positives in the outing, his fastball touched 99 mph and both outs he recorded were strikeouts. The 29-year-old clearly was just trying to get back into game speed, so there is no need to get worked up over his first game back, especially in his new bullpen role. Although owners should be wary of if, and when, the Red Sox decide to give Eovaldi his first save opportunity.
