Nathan Eovaldi Resumes Playing Catch
5 years agoBoston Red Sox starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi (biceps, elbow) resumed throwing on Monday after being shut down two weeks ago with right biceps tendinitis. He will need to build up the strength in his arm before making the next step in his rehab. Eovaldi last pitched on April 17 and had surgery to remove loose bodies in his right elbow shortly after that. Left-hander Brian Johnson made the start against the Orioles on Sunday and could hold down the fifth spot in the rotation until Eovaldi returns. Eovaldi's numbers don't look good after four starts this year (6.00 ERA, 1.52 WHIP), but he holds strikeout upside in mixed leagues when he's healthy.
