Nacho Alvarez Jr. Continues To Hit, Get On Base At Triple-A
5 months agoAtlanta Braves shortstop prospect Nacho Alvarez Jr. went 1-for-3 on Sunday for Triple-A Gwinnett and also walked twice in the contest. The 21-year-old has hit safely in 17 of 21 games since being promoted, collecting 31 hits in 21 games along with a 13:16 BB:K. The former fifth-round draft pick has even belted five Triple-A home runs after hitting zero at Double-A, giving him a strong .348/.437/.573 slashline for Gwinnett, while also showing off his base-stealing chops, logging a steal in three consecutive games now with 21 across both levels in 2024. Alvarez Jr. is making a case for a potential call-up, especially if the Braves' incumbent shortstop Orlando Arcia continues to struggle at the plate.
