Mychal Givens Starts Rehab Assignment Friday
2 years agoBaltimore Orioles relief pitcher Mychal Givens (knee) will start his minor-league rehab assignment with Double-A Bowie on Friday. Givens has yet to pitch in the big leagues this year for Baltimore due to left-knee inflammation, but he's getting closer to making his 2023 debut. While the 32-year-old right-hander probably won't need to spend a ton of time in the minors, the Orioles also are unlikely to rush him back until he's completely ready. Givens has 31 career saves over eight big-league seasons, but he's likely to operate in more of a middle-relief role when he returns to Baltimore's bullpen, leaving him minimal fantasy appeal. He posted a 3.38 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, two saves and 71 strikeouts in 61 1/3 innings in 2022 with the Chicago Cubs and New York Mets.
