Mychal Givens Picks Up Fifth Save
3 years agoCincinnati Reds right-hander Mychal Givens threw a scoreless ninth inning in a 7-4 win over the Detroit Tigers on Saturday. Givens struck out one and allowed one hit on the way to picking up his fifth save of the season. The veteran reliever has been a solid addition to the Cincinnati bullpen, posting a 3-2 record, 2.95 ERA, 1.34 WHIP, and 46 strikeouts over 42 2/3 innings of work. The Reds have been giving save opportunities to several different relievers this season but Givens appears to be the preferred ninth-inning option, at least for now.
