Mychal Givens Earns Ugly First Save Of Season Wednesday
6 years agoBaltimore Orioles relief pitcher Mychal Givens escaped with his first save of the season in Wednesday's 4-3 game against the White Sox. Givens pitched an uneventful eighth inning and stayed on to pitch the ninth with a two-run lead. He promptly gave up two doubles with an out in between, making it a one-run game. A wild pitch then put the tying runner on third base, but Givens was able to get a strikeout and a groundout to end the game. Givens has not been impressive this season and now owns a 4.50 ERA with 15 strikeouts and six walks in 12 IP. What's more, he now joins four other O's pitchers who have a single save. The O's have not taken the traditional closing route to this point, making Givens unownable in fantasy at this time.
