Mychal Givens Blows A Save On Friday
3 years agoCincinnati Reds right-hander Mychal Givens allowed three runs in two-thirds of an inning in an 8-7 win over the Washington Nationals on Friday. Givens allowed three hits, walked two and struck out one on the way to being charged with his third blown save of the season. The veteran reliever was called upon to protect a 7-4 lead in the ninth inning but gave up two doubles and a single in the outing. Givens now has a 3-3 record, 3.12 ERA, 1.39 WHIP, eight saves and 53 strikeouts over 49 innings of work. His role as the team's primary closer should be safe for now, although Michael Lorenzen could start to cut into his save chances if his struggles continue.
