2 days agoNFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports that multiple NFL teams have been doing extensive homework on former Las Vegas Raiders head coach Jon Gruden as a head-coaching candidate during this hiring cycle. Pelissero doesn't think anyone should be surprised if Gruden gets some head-coaching interviews in the next couple of weeks after the 2024 regular season concludes. Gruden hasn't coached in the NFL since he resigned as the head coach of the Raiders in 2021, although he could have had the offensive coordinator job for the New Orleans Saints last year if he had wanted it. There will be at least several teams looking for permanent head coaches this offseason -- Saints, Jets and Bears -- with another four teams -- Raiders, Giants, Jaguars and Cowboys -- that could also have openings if they choose to go in another direction after disappointing seasons.
