More Details On Xander Bogaerts' Extension
6 years agoUpdating a previous report, Boston Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts' new six-year, $120 million contract extension will pay him a straight $20 million per season. It'll include a vesting option for the 2026 season at 535 plate appearances and will also pay $20 million. Bogaerts is already set to make $12 million in 2019, and he's expected to have an opt out after the 2022 season. It's a big win for both the 26-year-old and the Red Sox, as they are set to lock up one of the best young shortstops in the game. The deal could become official on Monday. Bogaerts hit .288/.360/.522 with a career-high 23 home runs, 103 RBI and eight stolen bases in 136 games last year. He will continue to benefit by hitting in one of the strongest lineups in the majors.
