Mookie Betts Wins AL MVP
6 years agoBoston Red Sox outfielder Mookie Betts was named the 2018 American League Most Valuable Player on Thursday. He helped the Red Sox win a franchise-record 108 regular season games and the World Series title by beating out Angels outfielder Mike Trout and Indians infielder Jose Ramirez. Betts led the majors with a .346 batting average, 129 runs and a .640 slugging percentage with 47 doubles, 32 home runs and 30 stolen bases. He also led the majors with a 10.4 Wins Above Replacement. He became the first player to win the batting title in the same season in which he also had at least 30 homers and 30 steals. Betts is also a three-time Gold Glove winner. He can truly do it all and will be a top-five fantasy selection in 2019.
